News4u-News Desk-Thiruvananthapuram, AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi will take a decision on the Congress candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha seat that could be won by the Congress-led UDF Opposition in Kerala.
A decision to this effect was taken at the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) meeting here today.

KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala later told reporters that the committee did not discuss any names or forward any panel of names to the AICC chief.

The committee decided to request Sonia Gandhi to name the Congress Rajya Sabha candidate, he said.

According to reports, either senior Congress leader K Karunakaran or Chennithala will be the candidate for the RS seat from the state for the election, slated for next month.

As per the strength of members in the assembly, the Congress-led UDF could win one seat and CPI(M)-led LDF two seats, out of the three falling vacant.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi, former KPCC Chief Thennala Balakrishna Pillai and CITU leader K Chandran Pillai are the three who will retire from the Upper House next month.
