President praises development of indigenous H1N1 vaccine
India’s first swine flu vaccine came in for praise from President Pratibha Patil on Friday who congratulated Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for its indigenous development.
“I congratulate the minister for the development of the vaccine to treat H1N1 which had become a menace,” she said inaugurating a pharmaceutical seminar in New Delhi.
“This is a most commendable endeavour,” she said.
The President went on to add, “I must appreciate the spirit of the minister who is very fast to catch good ideas”.
India got its first vaccine shot for H1N1 flu last month and a nasal vaccine this month.
The country has seen 1584 deaths due to swine flu till date.Swine flu cases have also seen a spurt with the onset of monsoon.
