News4u-Entertainment Desk-agencies-Hollywood star Jim Carrey isn’t crying over his recent breakup with ex-playboy model Jenny McCarthy, at least not publicly.

Hours after announcing his split on Tuesday, the ‘Bruce Almighty’ star was back to work in Los Angeles, filming a promo for ‘Idol Gives Back’ American Idol’s annual star-studded charity special, reported People magazine.

“You would never have known that (the breakup) had just happened. Jim is a constant professional,” a source said.

The 48-year-old actor, who filmed the spots in an adjacent studio to where the live American Idol telecast was taking place, was joined by funnymen Russell Brand and Jonah Hill and the three were in high spirits.

Curfew relaxed in Hyderabad

News4u-News Desk-Curfew will be relaxed in the communal violence-hit areas of the city on Saturday as the situation remained incident-free on Friday and prayers at local mosques passed off peacefully.

According to City Police Commissioner A.K. Khan, prohibitory orders will be relaxed from 10 am to 1 pm in all 17 police stations limits in the old city and from 8 am to 10 am in eight areas outside the old city.

“As everything was peaceful today we decided to relax the curfew tomorrow in all 25 police stations where it was imposed. We will gradually increase relaxation if the situation continues to be peaceful,” he said.

There was, however, no relaxation on Friday in curfew, which was lifted for two hours on Thursday, in view of the sensitive nature of the law and order situation.

No untoward incident was reported from any part of the city after religious leaders appealed to the faithful to offer Friday prayers at home on the request of the Police Commissioner.

Police allowed small groups of people to offer prayers at local mosques at some places.

All roads leading to the historic Mecca Masjid were sealed off completely.

Meanwhile, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation personnel removed all flags and banners of religious nature from city walls and poles.

A man in the old city lost his life as medical treatment was not available to him allegedly due to curfew.

As many as 30 companies of central forces are deployed at all sensitive areas of the city and around 130 people were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the clashes, police said.

Two persons were killed and over 90 sustained injuries in the clashes that began last Saturday over the issue of putting up religious flags.

The city police initially imposed curfew in 17 police stations of the old city. As violence spread to other areas, curfew was later extended to eight more stations.

TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu alleged that some political leaders could be behind the communal violence in the city.

“Communal violence in the city could be an attempt to trouble the government. I am not saying this. Some Congress leaders have made these allegations. Leaders of other parties have also said this,” Naidu said.

Congress leaders K. Keshava Rao and J.C. Diwakar Reddy sought an inquiry into the violence.

The BJP has already sought a judicial inquiry into the clashes.

Ludhiana remains peaceful; curfew relaxed at some places

News4u-News Desk-Curfew was relaxed for 90 minutes in at least three places in Ludhiana, where situation on Sunday remained peaceful, a day after violent clashes between police and Sikh protesters objecting to a religious congregation by a sect claimed one life and injured 15 others.

The curfew was relaxed for 90 minutes in areas falling under Model town, Saraba Nagar and police station division number five, officials said adding the situation remained peaceful but tense during the period.

However, strict vigil was in place in rest of the city with forces keeping an eagle’s watch on the situation.

The curfew will remain clamped till further orders to maintain peace and order, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Garg said on Sunday.

Also, the funeral of Darshan Singh (54), who was killed in the clash went off peacefully at his native Lohara village.

The Punjab Government has announced an ex-gratia grant of Rs five lakh to the next of kin of the victim, officials said in Ludhiana.

Singh along with other Sikh radicals was trying to move towards the venue of a religious function organised by Ashutosh Maharaj. When they refused to stop, police allegedly resorted to firing resulting in Singh’s death and injuries to several others.

Meanwhile, Sikh radical organisations, including Damdami Taksal, have called for Punjab shut down on Monday.

However, essential services including medical, rail and public transport have been exempted from the shut down.

In view of the shut down call, the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana has issued orders that all schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the district will remain closed on Monday.

While the Punjab Congress has demanded dismissal of the Parkash Singh Badal government for allegedly failing to maintain law and order in Ludhiana, the CPI said violence in the industrial city was direct result of the policy of appeasement pursued by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BJP government towards radical Sikh organisations in the state.

Seeking imposition of President Rule, Punjab Congress spokesman Sukhpal Singh Khaira said “Badal and his son and deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal have failed to maintain peace in the state on more than one occasion.”

“The last two days’ mob violence in Ludhiana has clearly indicated the total collapse of law and order in the state,” he said.

“Akali Dal has learnt no lesson from several years of terrorism in the state. The same people are leading the radical organisations today who were once the kingpins of terrorism in its hey days,” Joginder Dayal, member of the national executive of CPI said.
